Bio for Nelson Merchan:
Nelson Merchan is a business advisor with the Small Business Development Center working from both the Danbury, Brookfield and the Waterbury Chambers of Commerce. Services are offered free of charge to entrepreneurs interested in growing their businesses.
Helping business owners access loans and capital is a priority for us. A second priority are entrepreneurs that are ?ready? to start a business.
Nelson received, from the SBA, the 2013 Home-Based Business Champion for the State of Connecticut. A Home-Based Business Champion is an individual who has experienced the rewards and difficulties of owning a home-based business and has volunteered to improve the climate for these businesses.
As the Western Connecticut SCORE chapter?s chairman and counselor, Nelson contributed to the significant growth of the chapter during 2013. The SBA awarded this chapter with the ?Eagle Award? for its Outstanding Contribution in the State of Connecticut.
Nelson has been a speaker at the last three SBDC national conferences. Nelson was born in Colombia and has an MBA from Georgia State University.
